What kinds of job will we tackle?
Our aim is to provide a basic maintenance service and not to carry out more advanced repairs.
Experience has shown that most faults are found in the brakes, steering and gears. We aim to rectify faults through adjustment although we can supply parts if needed but will happily use any that you wish to provide.
One of Dr Bike's roles is to provide a facility for cycle owners to carry out repairs to their own machines in a supervised environment. We understand that some jobs require specialised tools which owners would not wish to buy simply to undertake one job. We are happy for you to ask us questions, use our facilities and tools to carry out your own repairs. We will be available to assist as necessary in order for you to complete any task competently.
We hope that you will wish to gain basic cycle maintenance skills so that you can, in time, carry out servicing tasks yourself.
More advanced repairs are really beyond the scope of this service although we are able to tackle these by arrangement only.
We try to see as many 'patients' as we can in the time available: we may elect to carry out repairs in the following order:
Self-service repairs (You fix your bike under our supervision)
Tasks requiring only simple adjustment
Repairs needing more than 10 minutes labour/spare parts
Cycles left by owners for repair
Complex or advanced repairs left without prior arrangement
